     Does your teacher do push-ups?  Ours does!  Our teacher's name is Mrs. Schegan, and she does push ups every Friday in the front of the classroom.  Mrs. Schegan does one push up for every time she called a student the wrong name that week.  We keep a tally on the white board every time Mrs. Schegan says a name wrong.  It looks silly to see a teacher doing push-ups!  Some students offer moral support by doing the push ups with Mrs. Schegan.  Some times, Mrs. Schegan has to do up to 15 push-ups!  Other times, there are only 1 or 2.  Try to persuade YOUR teacher to do push ups in the classroom! 

Tornado in a Bottle

Our Water Tornadoes

     Do you want to know how to make a water tornado?  Well, now you'll know!  First, get two 2-liter bottles, and fill one of them a little bit more than halfway with water. Next, add three or four drops of food coloring to the water.  Screw a special connector onto the spout of the bottle that is filled with water.  Take the empty bottle and screw it onto the other end of the connector.  Flip your connected bottles upside down so that the water-filled bottle is on top.  Place one hand on the connector and one hand on the top of the bottle.  Quickly, begin moving the entire apparatus in a circular motion for about 10 seconds (you may see the water bubbling).  When you stop moving the bottles, you should see a "tornado" form inside.  It might be handy to keep a towel nearby in case you have a leak!  If you want to do it again, repeat the process from the point of flipping the bottles upside down.  I hope you get to try this!

      Does your school have a Halloween party?  Our school does!  First, we had parties in our classrooms.  There were treats and healthy snacks for students to eat.  Mrs. Schegan's class danced after they ate.  Mrs. Swope's class listened to music and played silent ball.  Mrs. Weber's class heard a spooky story and got to shine battery-operated candles. After the party, we had a Halloween parade.  We walked one lap around the playground so parents, friends, and family could see our costumes.  Some costumes were scary, like Noah's zombie costume.  Some costumes were creative, like Karis's picture frame costume.  There were character costumes, too (Anthony dressed as The Flash).  We had fun for Halloween, and we hope we will do it again next year!
